Are you bored with indoor activities? If so, let’s go to the backyard and have fun there. Gathering our family and friends, having a toasting corn or marsparty will be nice then. Turn your backyard into a cozy camp spot by making your own fire pit.
This DIY project is easy to complete, and you’ll be making s’mores around the fire in no time. You only use bricks for the fire pit wall, gravel, twine, tape measure, stake, large shovel, trowel, tamp, and level. If you buy bricks for the fire pit wall, choose sturdy bricks like retaining wall bricks or concrete pavers. Some home improvement stores sometimes sell bricks specifically designed for fire pits. Use a layer of firebricks with higher heat resistance, on the inner layer of the fire pit as an extra safety measure.
Now, create a circle in your backyard. Ensuring it’s located far from any structures, bushes or trees. Insert a stake in the ground on the center. Tie one end of the twine to the stake and measure how wide you want. Cut the twine and tie the other end to the handle of a trowel. With the twine taut, drag the sharp end of the trowel around in a circle, creating a line in the grass. Then, shovel out the grass. Make a hole for about 6-12 inches deep by digging out the grass inside the circle. Tamp down the dirt with a tamp or the bottom of your shovel. Make sure the circle is level and it is ready for the bricks. Then spread a thick layer of gravel in the fire pit evenly. Then, arrange the bricks in a circle. Stack them in layers. For extra safety, put an inner layer of firebricks. Your DIY fire pit is ready to use
